Ok – So, I’m a scrapbooking, memory keeping photographer. I actually started out making cards using paper, glue, scissors and rubber stamps & ink. Then my girlfriends, mother and everyone around me at the time seemed to be scrapbookers, so they enticed me over to the darkside. (Bwahahaha) – No seriously, it’s not the darkside, scrapbooking is all about keeping memories of your family and the people you love. (including yourself!)
I love getting creative and telling stories of those I hold dear to my heart with photos and paper (although I use digital paper now I didn’t always), and journaling. I find that alongside my photography I have another outlet for creativity in scrapbooking. I seriously think that your photos are worth a thousand words, and add them to a scrapbook page they are worth a million. A story is told.
So, because I scrapbook I read about scrapbooking. I follow the people who say a lot about keeping memories, not just the art behind scrapbooking and design, but the people who also scrapbook just to tell the story. My favorites include:
The Daily Digi – You’ll see a link over on my side bar for this blog.
I also follow
Karen Russell – She’s a photographer and a scrapbooker who’s all about the story!
These women inspire me to keep telling stories. They also inspire me on how I tell stories.
I find that I like putting together whole albums at once vs. single pages and little bits of information. But I aspire to tell all the stories, no matter how small or how big. (Although I may never get to them all, I’m ok with that. If I tell enough of the stories to give someone else (even my kids when they are grown) a glimpse of who our family is, then that’s cool with me.)
So, what kinds of ideas inspire me?
Try this one… It’s a full album, so it caught my attention. I may or may not do this for December, but I may do this for another event in my life.
I first caught the idea here and then went over here to read fully on this idea. Maybe it will inspire you as well.
And because I don’t like blogging without photos….

Although I’m not sure I still have props on Cathy’s blog, I did about 6 months ago! :)
Have a great Day!
