So, last week, a few couples from my church group and our family got together to help out a family in need. This family was dealing with the loss of a loved one after caring for them in a Hospice Care situation for about a month. They did not have time to rake their leaves, or do maintenance on their lawn/property because all their time was devoted to the care of their loved one and then the grieving of the passing.
We wanted something to do that all of our kids could do as well. So, we decided on raking leaves. Below are some of the photos I took (cause I gotta bring the camera along for some good shots!) of our time working. And before you think all I did was take photos, think again! I actually dropped my camera halfway through the day when I went to pick it up to get a few photos, and my lens broke in half! (I’ll post photos tomorrow of my broken lens…) So, that ended my memory catching for the day. And I really really really did rake leaves too. You can ask anyone who was there…. (sound of throat clearing here)
All joking aside… I’m not posting this to pat myself on the back or say that what we did was really cool. I am posting this because I would like to urge you to think of who you can help out today. It doesn’t take money to rake someone’s leaves, it just takes some time. It’s a family thing to do, so take the kids along. (You don’t need babysitting!) Sit with your elderly neighbor and make them some tea. Bring in their mail for them daily. Find someone to help, not because it feels good to do so, but because when someone is going through rough times, it feels nice to not feel alone. It’s nice to know that there are people out there thinking of you. I urge you to help someone out this month…. They’ll appreciate it more than you’ll ever know.

Have a great Monday! If you have time, comment with some service project ideas, what/who you plan to help, or if you’ve done something like this lately.
