Family.

Have you always wanted children? H & M – figured so. Haven’t felt peace about having children yet

How many children do you want? H – 2, M – 5.

Has family always been important to you? Yes.  Heather had mom, dad and sister (all her grandparents were gone by the time she was 11) so prayed for a husband with a big family – Mark has 3 siblings, 12 aunts and uncles, 17 1st cousins 50+ second cousins.

They both want children.  Mark told me though that because the timing has not yet felt right, and because they are both reaching an age where “the clock ticks loudly” it may never come to fruition.  The possibility that they may not have children grieves them, yet it’s a decision that they know it’s not the right timing for them now.  As their friends, it’s been a question we’ve asked of them, and others have asked over and over.  Are you ever going to start a family?  You have a beautiful home, a solid marriage, what else do you need?  And their answer is the timing just isn’t right yet.   They just haven’t figured out a way to fit kids into their lives, both time wise and financially.   They can’t envision a family with children right now.  So, even though their hearts desire a family, that dream is on hold.

Mark and Heather also love sitting on the sofa to talk, eating dinner together and talking face to face.  They don’t own a TV, watch a lot of movies (unless it is a planned evening out and even then it’s not a normal activity).   They try to simplify their lives as much as possible and focus on the relationships they have in their lives rather than spend time watching TV.

Stop by tomorrow for How the Ferrences have spent their past year…
