We (my love and I) went to Vegas last week for 5 days, and had a really good time. This was a business trip that I tagged along on, but still had an amazing time. This was my first time. Yes, I was a Vegas Virgin. LOL! And I have to say that I was impressed. People have called it Sin City, but I’m thinking that it’s really not. Yes, there is a Porn Phonebook, and yes there is streets littered with naked girls on small business sized cards… But besides that, there wasn’t anything there that doesn’t happen elsewhere in the world. It’s just a little bit magnified there. I mean… What else do you go to Vegas for, if not to sin right? LOL! I actually don’t think gambling is wrong, or drinking or entertainment. I really think Las Vegas is the ultimate Entertainment town. You go there to entertain yourself. It’s a tourist town, and tourists love to be entertained. You spend gobs of money no matter what you are into, and it’s chalked up as entertainment. Like to spend time at the Hotel Pool? Entertainment. Like to spend time eating out? Entertainment. Like to take in a show or two? Entertainment. Like to sit down and play blackjack, roulette and poker? Entertainment. (hint, that’s what I played while there!) See the majesty of the mountains through ziplining? Entertainment.

It broke my heart though seeing what Entertainment can do to a person. People see it as the end all of happiness, and sink their whole lives into dreams of the ultimate entertainment, Money! And so on street corners you see people trying to sell you on sex and these are not the prostitutes, these are just the salesmen. You see people sleeping right out in the public sidewalks outside the most glorious hotels. You see people eating right out of the trashcans. This I couldn’t bear without tears. The pain was unimaginable. Knowing that this person’s life was sold on the idea that Vegas can give you your dreams of financial success… was heart wrenching. That is where the sin lies, in the striving for something that is not real. Trying to fill the dreams with an oasis in the desert. It’s not the gambling that makes it sinful, it’s the illusion that you can make a financial gain to change your life that is wrong. If you gamble because it’s fun and entertaining, then it’s no more worse than going to the movies.
OK… Enough of the long lecture of my thoughts on Vegas…
Hee Hee… Stay with me though… I have a lot of cool photos to share. :)
This is the view from my hotel… (not my room – that view was a parking garage!) This was from the observation deck in the Statosphere.
The one thing about Vegas is that the Mexican food is all over the place… So, our bellies were always full. Of course we have a Baja Fresh here in PA too, but that’s besides the point. We had mexican all but one night. (and one of our traveling companions had a lot of… Well… We just won’t talk about it!) LOL!
This is J. He kept us in stitches pretty much the whole time he was with us. Which was all but 2 days of our trip. (remember this was a business trip and he was one of the business people in our party). This photo all but sucks. There is something about it that cracks me up each time I see it though… So, here it is up on the blog. - Thanks J for all the laughs. (He sent me this photo of him trying to get into a cop car, like the Hangover, like he was going to drive it!) I’m telling you, CRACK UP! (oh and if it isn’t funny to you, then it must be one of those “you had to be there” moments!)
New York New York, was by far my favorite Themed Casino’s. The atmosphere was just FUN! My favorite Luxury Casino was probably a mix between the Venetian and the Bellagio. Too Much Fun!
Although we didn’t hit it big in Vegas this time around, we did see the Grand Canyon. Which in my opinion… Was the best thing we did all week…. It didn’t compare to the glitz of all the fancy food and hotels on the strip. It was AMAZING! - You’ll have to stay tuned for our day trip photos tomorrow. (And I promise… It’ll be more photos than writing!) LOL!
